Magazines à gogo!
Am 27. September startet der in Berlin ansässige Lausanner Alexis Zavialoff mit seiner “Motto Distribution” die Reihe “Temporary Bookshop”. Während einer Woche wird Corner College zum Buchladen für internationales zeitgenössisches Magazin-Schaffen – mit regulären Öffnungszeiten und einer Restpostenkiste.

Soirée Motto #1: Kilimanjaro
Olu Michael Odukoya, editor of Kilimanjaro, will host a release event for the magazine’s latest issue (No. 8) entitled "Visual Surrealism & Virtual Reality". A video entitled "Just for kids" which is related to the release will be screened at Corner Cinema.

Soirée Motto #2: Dot Dot Dot
Since its conception in 2000 DDD has immatured into a jocuserious fanzine-journal-orphanage based on true stories deeply concerned with art-design-music-language-literature-architecture and uptight optipessimistic stoppy / revelatory ghostwriting by friendly spirits mapping b-sides and out-takes pushing for a resolution in bleak midwinter through late summer with local and general aesthetics wound on an ever tightening coil.

In the context of the presentation of Dot Dot Dot No. 16, the movie "F for Fake" (Orson Welles, 1974) will be screened at Corner Cinema at 21.00. Remaining available back issues of Dot Dot Dot will be available.

Uovo No. 18 has been created during Uovo Open Office Basel, in the occasion of the art fairs period in june 2008. Artists were invited in a space to create site specific works and record interviews. The whole process has been documented and later assembled in the current issue of Uovo. Various documentation elements will be presented for the launch, in presence of the publisher Chiara Figone. Artists presented in the issue include: Giorgio Andreotta Caló, Darri Lorenzen, David Nuur, Jorge Peris, Reto Pulfer, Yorgos Tsapountzis.

Utrecht ist der Name eines Tokyoter Buchladens, der sich im dritten Stock eines Appartment-Hauses befindet und nur auf Voranmeldung besucht werden kann. Nebst diesem Shop in Nakagemuro betreibt Utrecht neu einen Raum in Aoyama, welcher gleichzeitig als Ausstellungs- und Verkaufsfläche funktioniert. Als Verlag publiziert Utrecht Bücher junger japanischer Künstler und vertreibt Publikationen internationaler unabhängiger Kleinverlage.

Corner College reduziert den Temporary Bookshop auf einen One Night Bookshop und freut sich, in diesem Format die Publikationen des Leipziger Verlages Spector Books zu zeigen, insbsondere das Buch "A–Z/ A=A (s. Identität)" von Lina Grumm, welches ebenda erschienen ist.
A–Z/ A=A (s. Identität)
A–Z/ A=A (s. Identität) kreist um Bilder als Denkfiguren, die Theorien transportieren und Begriffsfelder konstruieren. 136 Bildtafeln versammeln Motive verschiedenartiger Herkunft zu Konstellationen, die auf Momente von Wiederholung, Assoziation, Vergleich, Repräsentation und Referenz bauen und die die Wandelbarkeit der Lesart eines einzelnen Bildes in Abhängigkeit von seinem jeweiligen Kontext demonstrieren. Gegliedert wird das Buch durch 180 Begriffe, die am Kopf jeder Seite stehen und die auf separaten alphabetisch geordneten Seiten erläutert werden. Die Begriffe werden nicht allgemeingültig definiert – vielmehr wird der Versuch unternommen, die Begriffe durch die Kombination einzelner möglicher Bedeutungsaspekte neu zu konzipieren.

Die Autorin ist anwesend, im Hintergrund spielt der "A-Z Soundtrack", Getränke werden ausgeschenkt und weitere Publikationen von Spector Books sind zum anschauen und kaufen ausgelegt.
